Angus countryside
Overview

To examine the structures in place for the Angus rural area to administer funding, Community Led Local Development and community empowerment using local capacity post BREXIT. Local communities will have a greater awareness of the support in place, mechanisms for engagement and a stronger voice in Angus.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

The consultation with stakeholders enabled a conversation on the future and how this type of Programme would be delivered in the future. The consultation highlighted to communities the value of rural development, community-led funding.

How has your project benefited your local area?

The project has given the LAG and community planning partners a focus post-LEADER. The data from this will be able to feed into the next iteration of the Community Plan and underpin any future policies. The report was very useful in showcasing the valuable work that had been done and the event showcased individual projects with each applicant participating undertaking an ambassadorial role. It has made the future evaluation of the Programme a more straightforward process

What has been your biggest challenge?

Ensuring communities and stakeholders to respond to the consultation was a challenge due to consultation overload and fatigue. There was a danger of community burnout as a result of a large number of consultations at the same time. Getting the LAG Members to understand the wider strategic overview of their role in the Programme was also a challenge.
