Friockhub Changing places

These facilities don’t only meet the toileting/personal care/assist of someone with a disability but also people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, autism, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, as well as older people and those with more hidden disabilities or complex health conditions e.g. stoma and catheter care. The additional space ensures that a wheelchair user and support staff/carers have access to the required space and equipment that is needed to toilet/change and transfer. The changing bench also provides opportunity for stretch/physio and adjustments for comfort. The sensory play area is an additional support for community users with particular needs.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Opening has been a great achievement.

How has your project benefited your local area?

It has provided a very accessible toilet facility to people in need for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The quality of the facilities are as good as anywhere in Scotland.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Maintaining the high-quality toilets over COVID for people requiring them has been a big challenge.
