Overview

ENKCA have led the way in Angus in cooperating with local agencies to demonstrate community resilience through bespoke arrangements made at their local community hall. Taking this further, the award allowed improvements to the ICT hardware and website developed for the hall. Specialist advice was sought from the Angus resilience community’s technical advisors.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

The website has generated significant traffic which has translated into increased hall usage both for regular events and for external “commercial” hires. Google Analytics
provides data relating to website visits and this is reviewed regularly. Thus the income has increased slightly which has enabled the Trustees to invest in improved facilities – for example, the 8-year-old steel-framed cloth-covered chairs are have been recovered in vinyl to increase longevity and decrease cleaning costs and the main hall has been re-decorated.
The comprehensive information and photo gallery on the Hall website lists the facilities (room sizes, furniture, kitchen appliances and hire costs) which has resulted in a significant reduction in the time the Booking Secretary spends discussing and arranging hires.

How has your project benefited your local area?

Weather warning flag has been operated on several occasions to alert the local community to possible danger arising from stormy weather.
The local community can clearly see on the website the equipment and facilities offered by Eassie Hall in the event of a civil emergency

What has been your biggest challenge?

The Trustees have had to become familiar with managing/up-dating the website without help from the web designer or other professional. Also becoming familiar with the mac mini operating system and printer/scanner proved to be challenging but this has been
resolved. The IT equipment and website have been in operation for more than 1 year and we could not run the Hall efficiently without this investment.
