Angus Business Connections (ABC)

Overview

Creation of the Angus Business Connections project, seeking to establish a peer to peer support network for micro enterprises, building on the experience of the successful GROWBIZ organisation in neighbouring rural Perth & Kinross. The project will work over two years in cooperation with Dundee Social Enterprise Network, to identify and connect enterprises of micro size who feel isolated from other enterprise support opportunities.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Being instrumental in starting the Angus Social Enterprise Network was a huge achievement.

How has your project benefited your local area?

– The ABC project was instrumental in starting the Angus Social Enterprise Network.
– C. 100 micro/small businesses in rural Angus that have now become members of ABC.
– 31 Huddles were facilitated in the first 18 months of the project.
– 31 organisations that engaged with the project identified or were exploring the social enterprise model.
– 34% of businesses that ABC supported were startups.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Biggest challenge was securing the funding to continue the project and the impacts of the project.
